Meakins-Christie Labs on St. Urbain

The MCL were first located on University Street, across from the Royal Victoria Hospital. In 1989 they moved to 3626 St. Urbain Street to a building leased by McGill University that was adjacent to the Montreal Chest Institute. This building was expanded in 2008 to accommodate additional personnel, with several members of the MCL still being located at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital.

2015: Meakins-Christie Labs in the new RI-MUHC

On Mar 9, 2015 the MCL took part in a historic move and, along with research laboratories from four different hospitals (Montreal Chest Institute, Montreal Children’s Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal General Hospital), settled into its new home at the Glen site of the MUHC. This move brought all of the MCL faculty members together in one of the largest health research institute in the province of Quebec.

The Meakins-Christie Laboratories is located within the RI-MUHC. The RI-MUHC is the largest health research institute in the province of Quebec whose construction was funded in part by a $100M award from the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The new RI-MUHC was built to help accelerate translational research by helping translate basic research results to the bedside and by helping integrate research results into clinical practice.
